If you've recently friended me and you're wondering why you never got friended back... well that's because you never sent me a message to tell me who you are. Most of the people I have friended on this journal are people I've met in real life at least once. While there are some I've never met in person, I don't friend without knowing who it is that is trying to friend me. So, drop me a note identifying your real world self, or introducing yourself, so that I may friend with knowledge. I'm a very friendly person, I just like to know who I'm talking to. :) Feel free to comment here to introduce yourself as well.

Dearest friends and pirates,

I hereby invite you all to an event in Silver Spring, Maryland at the Piratz Tavern on August 15th, 2009. Its my "not 30 yet" (29th) birthday celebration, and for my birthday I would like nothing more than to see all you crazy people there for grog and silliness.

I intend to show up at 5pm and stay till closing, stop by any time. Entertainment includes singing pirates 7:30pm til 10pm, and fire or belly dancers after 10pm. The food is excellent, the grog is cheap and plentiful, and the pirates don't bite... unless asked nicely. Link to website above. I am born~! 29 years ago today.

For some reason, at the lovely hour of 4am, this had me giggling madly. It could be many years of frustration with copiers, it could be I'm up too late... I'm not sure.

I opened my window... its now filled with kitties. Who are very confused that there are no birdies to chirp at and covet.

Anyone I know here at LJ speak Spanish? I'm took one year back in college, I've got some tapes to learn more, I'm looking for someone I could practice speaking or writing to, just for learning purposes. Anyone? (Ted, do you retain enough knowledge from college to count?) Ditto on french, I could relearn that one first if it was prudent.

It has whole bunches of stuff the version that I have does not... including several episodes that never worked on my disks, and the whole of season 10 which I have not bought yet, and directors cut of certain episodes that were not released when I bought mine. *Grabby hands*  Want.

I'd forgotten how much fun listening to Ella Fitzgerald is. Not that I've done it much, but when I worked for Kim, she'd put on old recordings while we were sewing. Something about the slinky slow sound was always great to zone and sew to. I think perhaps I need some Jazz in my music collection. The reason for this discovery being a random internet association that led me to look up Summertime, and find it on itunes sung by Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong. This woman was comic gold in EVERYTHING... I have no idea how she did it, but I love her forever for it. My other favs include her parts in History of the World part 1 and Blazing Saddles (both also easy to find on youtube). I hadn't seen this bit before, thank you youtube for allowing me to see this.

I have discovered I can perform magic. Its half white magic, and half black magic. This is how you do the trick. Stand in a bedroom, empty of all other life forms except yourself. Take a white bed sheet and unfold it (this is the white part). Shake it out once, very quickly. POOF~! Under your white bedsheet, will now be a small black kitten who sometimes answers to the name of Zaboo (this is the black part). How'd he get there? No one knows~! It should be noted, that once summoned, the black magic part of this trick is very hard to separate from the white. Ever again. And don't even think about finishing making the bed, its just not gonna happen. 

But Stargate Sg-1 is on. I'm a sucker. Oh hello there pretty sci fi crack, nice to see you. And THIS, this is why I don't ever get cable in my own house.

I have new tires! And new windshield whipers. My tires now grip, and my whipers now whipe. Its a great thing. I got up the hill just fine with the new tires.

Tires make a HUGE difference in the safety of your car. If you haven't checked your tires recently, go do so now. And remember, you're supposed to rotate your tires every other oil change, or about every 7,000 miles (at least that's what my tire place tells me). And if your tires have any bulges, bumps, or bits of metal sticking out of them, get new ones. Yeah, seems obvious, but I've known people who didn't know this in the past. And for my third tire tip, remember to keep your tires properly inflated. Failure to do so can significantly decrease the life of your tire. If you don't know what pressure your tire should be inflated to, call your local tire place with the make and model of your car, and the type of tire and ask 'em. Hope everyone is driving safely!
